How we approach it
Being told your labs are normal is not the same as being told nothing is wrong. Standard panels are built to catch disease, and they are good at it — but a result can sit inside the reference range and still be a long way from where you personally function well. Persistent fatigue usually has more than one contributor: thyroid at the low end of normal, iron or B12 stores that are adequate but not comfortable, adrenal and cortisol rhythm, sleep that is broken in ways you have stopped noticing, or a gut that is not absorbing what you eat. A functional panel looks at more of those and reads them differently. From there the honest answer is that this is often slow work, addressed in more than one place at once. We would rather tell you that at the start than promise you a quick answer we cannot give.
Where people usually start
Which of these makes sense depends on what the first conversation turns up. You do not have to choose one now.
A wider panel, read against optimal ranges rather than only against disease thresholds.
Nutrients delivered directly, which matters when absorption is part of the problem.
Thyroid and adrenal patterns sit underneath a great deal of persistent tiredness.
Steady blood sugar and real absorption are where energy actually comes from.
Recovery tools you can use regularly rather than a one-off appointment.
A standard screen is often one marker. A functional panel looks at more of the picture and reads results against optimal ranges rather than only against the thresholds that define disease. That can turn "fine" into something more useful.
We do not diagnose, so we would not put that label on you or take it off. What we can do is look carefully at the contributors that are measurable, whatever the fatigue is eventually called.
Honestly, it varies enormously, and we are not going to give you an average that means nothing for your case. What we will do is agree what we are watching, so you can tell whether anything is moving.
Not sure this is the right page?
Most people arrive with a symptom rather than a service in mind, and more than one of these pages will often sound familiar. That is normal — the concerns overlap because the body does. Browse all fifteen, or just call and describe it. You do not have to arrive with the right words.
